The Return Home

Program Notes

I wrote this piece having an image in my mind of soldiers returning home from war. I thought about how these men and women are seen as heroes by many for going through what may be the worst experiences of their lives. These heroes, who feel like at any moment they may break because of the memories of what they had to do in order to survive, look content and stable. It is the darkness of war being covered by the light of victory. This piece, The Return Home, tries to capture this image.
